283. Don’t Waste Your Talent with David Drebin

the daily helping podcast Nov 13, 2022

Today’s expert guest is David Drebin. A graduate of Parsons School of Design in NYC, David is a multidisciplinary artist who works with various art forms producing limited edition works including Photographs, Lightboxes, Neon Light Installations, Diamond Dust works, and more. His work combines voyeuristic and psychological viewpoints in a unique manner, offering the viewer a dramatic insight into the kinds of emotions and experiences many of us have felt at some point in our lives.

Nothing upsets David more than wasted talent. Everybody has a talent, you just have to dig deep to find out what that it. If you’re struggling to find your purpose, you have to try new things. You have to know what you’re bad at so you know what you can be good at. And don’t be afraid to, as David puts it, “flirt with danger.” Which means don’t play it safe, and don’t be afraid to take risks in pursuit of your passion.

The Biggest Helping: Today’s Most Important Takeaway

“I think it’s a world of people who think about what other people think before they think. But I think true uniqueness is to have your own thoughts and to be yourself. So the greatest advice I could give to anybody, including myself, is to be yourself because everybody else is taken. So don’t look at what everyone else is doing, go deep within yourself and just go be you. Be you. That’s it.”
